Typically, the only not very useful way to get a "Lens Flare" to seem like it's disappearing behind any object were to keyframe the brightness values over and over.
Now, with this preset based on sampleImage() you can choose an "obscuration" layer. Based on it's alpha values the intensity(brightness) of the "Lens Flare" is automatically controlled. Including an "AlphaThreshold" for the "obscuration" layer and a "BrightnessMinMax" for the "Lens Flare". Here is the basic expression, if you need it "clean". Otherwise get the preset and you're done ;)Effects & PluginsLens Flare, Slider & Point Controls(Min. Version: After Effects CS3, Category: Lights, Type: Presets (ffx)) | ||||||
