This example shows using custom particles. The particles are small (200*200 pixels) compositions containing a few animated solids that kind of resemble birds, bats and butterflies.

The particles are then emitted and animated using Physics>Air>Spin and Physics>Air>Turbulence. Trapcode Particular implements custom particles as "sprites" - 2D images/movies that orient towards the camera.
